The most common symptoms for which patients seek psychiatric care are ones that adults have tried to manage on their own for a long time. You may not see yourself as someone with a mental illness, which may have prevented you from seeking help in the past. We understand the difference between surviving and thriving, between limping along and living a full and joyful life.
Recovery can require creative solutions to address complex problems. Whether that is through creative symptom management with safe medicines, Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT), or non-pharmacologic solutions, we will work with you to protect and strengthen your recovery. We also understand that recovery doesn't come in a pill, so that means encouraging big picture efforts for lasting big picture results.
Addiction is a powerful disease that makes physiological changes to the brain. Some medications can reduce cravings, block transmitters, prevent withdrawal symptoms, facilitate restorative sleep, and make it easier to abstain from dangerous drugs that threaten both the patient's functional lifestyle and their very life. Use of medications to help recovery is part of the Synergy Model of Care.
For many years, psychiatric prescribing has followed trial and error protocols that often led to poor symptom relief, distressing side effects, and discouragement for patients. Many conclude that "meds don't work for me." But advancements in genetic testing can now assist with medication selections to bypass ineffective meds in favor of more effective options.
By connecting in-person in our Winston-Salem office for your first session, your Synergy provider can get to know you better and help you both establish a strong connection. Later on, you may elect telehealth sessions for convenience, or you may want to return for in-person follow-up appointments every time. Our office is located in Winston-Salem, NC conveniently off Hwy 421 in space we share with Full Life Counseling.
Once that initial connection is made, you may wish to have follow-up sessions using our HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform. In other cases, those who live too far from Winston-Salem to conveniently meet in-person may need to elect telehealth services for most sessions. Telehealth sessions are not available for all services, so be sure to ask your provider.
